Good news for Samsung Galaxy users. The Korean giant is ready to luanch Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) update to its Galaxy S II smartphones and Galaxy Tab tablets as early as 2012.

Samsung on its official blog confirmed that the OS update for Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note will start in the first quarter of 2012, and other Galaxy devices will follow soon.

Samsung in the blog post states that The ICS-upgradable smartphones include Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Note and Galaxy R. Among the tablets, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7, and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will receive the latest upgrade.

The Google’s new Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) brings a complete redesigned user interface with improved multi-tasking, notifications, Wi-Fi hotspot, NFC support and a full Web browsing experience.

The OS will come along which features a new People App which will let users browse pictures, messages and social network updates from friends, family and co-workers. The new OS also packs Face Unlock feature which uses facial recognition to unlock the smartphone.

Samsung plans to make separate announcements detailing ICS OS updates for each market according to market situation and carriers’ requirements.
